Examination Courses at WSE

Taking an internationally recognised exam is a great way to prove your English language skills. You will study with others who share the same goal as you in exam-focussed classes. We are also one of the few schools in the UK to have our own exam centre. The London Exam Centre is located just 2 minutes' walk from school and is the only Cambridge English Platinum Centre in the UK.

The following full-time exam preparation courses are available at WSE:

All of these full-time exam preparation courses have an exam at the end of the course which is held in Wimbledon. This means you don't have to travel to an unfamiliar place to take the test. Please note that C2 Proficiency (CPE) preparation courses will include some students that are not taking the exam. Please note: The London Exam Centre is a non-UKVI centre.

If you would like to prepare for a less commonly taken exam, we have a number of guided self-study courses available. For guided self-study courses you will receive a personalised study plan and will be expected to complete this in your own time. Regular one-to-one support is available between 13:30 and 16:30 in our Study Centre.

WSE Policy on students joining examination courses

WSE has an inclusive policy on examination courses. We believe that all students who wish to take an examination and have shown that they are able to follow the course (through their entrance examination result, & if they are already at WSE, their progress, attitude to study and teachers' reports) should be allowed to take the course and enter the examination.

This means that if we consider a student is capable of managing and benefiting from the examination course we will allow them into the class, even if we think they may not pass the examination. We believe that the student will still learn a lot from the course and that being in an examination class will encourage the student to be focused and motivated. We will always inform a student if we think they may fail the examination, both when counselling them before they join the course, and during the course itself.

All students wishing to take an examination course must take an entrance examination before joining the course. More information regarding these examinations can be found on The London Exam Centre website.
