Intensive couses = 28 × 50 minute lessons per week (23 hours 20 minutes)
For intensive courses, you will follow one of our standard 24 lesson programmes with 4 extra lessons from one of our optional courses.

How long should I study?
You can study for as long as you like, from one week to one year. If you are studying General English, it normally takes 10 weeks to progress to the next level. Please note that certain courses have specific start dates

How many levels are there?
We have eight levels from Beginner to Proficiency and these correspond to the Common European Framework of levels. The 8 levels are: Beginners, Pre Intermediate, Intermediate, Higher Intermediate, Higher Intermediate Plus, Advanced, Advanced Plus, Proficiency.

How do I know my level?
On your first day we will test your grammar, written and spoken English. Your overall score will determine your level and you will join classes the same day.

How is progress monitored?
You will have a short test in class every Friday to see how you are progressing. Long term students will also have tutorials with their teachers to check their progress.

Will I receive homework?
We believe that homework is a very important part of your course and will help you make rapid progress. The exact amount of homework you will get depends on your course but you should expect 1-2 hours per day.

What support is offered outside the classroom?
We have an online learning platform called e-wimbledon which is free for students to use before, during and after their studies. While at school, all students have access to the study centre which is managed by our teacher Sean. He is there to offer one-to-one advice to students and will help you achieve your language goals.

How many people are in a class?
From September to June, the maximum number of students in a class is 14. In July and August, the maximum is 16 students per class.

Will I get a certificate?
When you finish your course, you will get the Wimbledon School of English Certificate stating your course dates and level. We require that students attend 80% of classes in order to receive the certificate. If you are taking one of our examination courses, you will also have the option to take the exam at the end.

Is there a cooling-off period?

If you book via email, telephone, in person or by post and wish to cancel, charges will apply.  Please viist the Pre-arrival Cancellations & Refunds section of our terms and conditions for more information.
