Work Experience

If you wish to gain work experience in your area of studies we can arrange an internship programme for you either half way through or at the end of your English language course with us.

In conjunction with our Work Experience Partner (an agency specialising in Work Placement & Work Experience), we offer a wide range of different  placement options.  For each of these options the following terms apply:

  • All students must study at Wimbledon School of English for a minimum of 4 weeks before commencing the work placement

  • The fee includes our partner's Work Experience Certificate. 

English plus General internship: Open to All Nationalities

This programme offers you the chance to combine English language studies with a period of non-salaried work experience in a UK company relevant to your chosen career.  It enables you to gain practical experience in addition to valuable business and professional skills which will give you a great start to your career.

  • Minimum level at start of placement:  Higher Intermediate

  • Applicants must choose three different type of work

  • Students must be undergraduate university or college students

  • Minimum age: 18

  • Minimum length of time to apply before placement start date : 8 weeks

  • Minimum study period: 4 weeks

  • Minimum placement period: 4 weeks (maximum: 24 weeks)

  • Location - London

  • Office administration

  • International trade

  • Retail

  • Public Relations & Events

  • Non Profit organisations

  • Hospitality

  • Human Resources & Training

Please ask if you would like to do an internship in another area

Non EEA students may do Professional Work Experience in the form of a sandwich course:  study then placement, subject to full student visa status and immigration rulings.

For this programme, we need to receive all application documents at least 8 weeks before the placement start date.


English plus Professional internship: Open to All Nationalities

This programme offers you the chance to combine English language studies with a period of non-salaried work experience in a UK company relevant to your chosen career.  It enables you to gain practical experience in addition to valuable business and professional skills which will give you a great start to your career. This internship is suitable for you if you have already chosen your career in one particular area.

  • Minimum level at start of placement:  Higher Intermediate

  • Applicants must choose one type of work only

  • Students must be undergraduate or graduate university or college students

  • Minimum age: 20

  • Minimum length of time to apply before placement start date : 8 weeks

  • Minimum study period: 4 weeks

  • Minimum placement period: 4 weeks (maximum: 24 weeks)

  • Location - London

Accommodation during Work Placement

Please note that while you are  on your work placement, you will not be able to stay in any of the accommodation options provided by Wimbledon School of English
